KK & SANTA
Last year Kaiah was pretty comfortable sitting with Ole Saint Nick, but this year her stranger anxiety kicked in. I had a feeling that might happen. We figured why fight it. Take her for how she is. Why try to create smiles where they don't exist. So here is Santa trip in 2010. Pretty hilarious.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
Shannon continues her streak of dressing up the little one in her festive outfits. Again she made them all by hand. We of course got into the act this year. Kaiah was a little reluctant at first but she usually gets into the mood eventually.
And here is a picture from last Thanksgiving. It truly is amazing how fast they grow. We have so much gratitude for our many blessings.

HALLOWEEN 2010
We had so much fun this weekend with Kaiah. She is hilarious. Saturday night we went to the church function called "Trunk or Treat." People decorate their cars in the parking lot and handout candy. Safe alternative for some parents. She really liked that. She wasn't quite grasping the idea of Trick or Treating, but she did like that she was getting candy.
Then last night we took her out to a nice neighborhood in Pasadena (by the Rose Bowl), just so she could get the feel for going door to door (or so Shannon and I could get some good candy). We only went to two houses and she totally grasped the concept. She knocked softly on the door, people would get low showing her the candy bowl and she would grab two large handfuls of candy. She'd drop them in the bag and head off. She really knew the drill! She's hilarious. I think she really enjoyed her costume. She usually doesn't like things on her head, but she liked wearing the lambs hoody. Love that kid!

FATHER'S DAY
Today was the first Father's Day for Kaiah and I. She gave me a special imprint of her hand. It was beautiful. And as a special gift she said her first word (aside from Dad-da and Mama)! Here is the video of her first word and also her photo for Father's Day. Amazing to see how quick they express themselves!

WELCOME KAIAH KOA!
We have been late to the game in starting a blog for our beautiful daughter Kaiah. She was born on July 25, 2009 and has been an amazing blessing in our life since. With her first birthday coming up next month, we felt it appropriate to review the last year with some photos and also get ready for another exciting year!
When Kaiah was born she was a little jaundice and had to go under the lights for a day or so. At the time Shannon and I were devastated and really felt for the first time the overwhelming emotion of what it was to be a parent. When they sent us home, we decided that we wouldn't go home and sleep. We would come back every three hours and feed her ourselves. The nurses insisted we get rest and that they would feed her, but we couldn't stay away. So we came back for the next 24 hours praying that she would recover and be released by the hospital.
The next morning came and she was feeling better and they released her! Before we left though, a photographer came by to take her photo. This is her first official photo before she left the hospital and enter the world. She looks hopeful, excited, and bright-eyed...exactly how she is today.
